The Go-Getter program was established in 1989 to serve as an incentive
for students who do not normally get recognized for outstanding accomplishments.
The students targeted are those who work hard, do their very best,
are good citizens but are not the top students in academics or athletics.
We wanted to encourage them to be the best they can be by recognizing
their efforts.
Each month the school selects two students who meet this criteria
and sends their photographs to us to print in the newspaper. Go-Getters
are published on the last Tuesday of each month and continuously online
throughout the year. We then send a Go-Getter certificate to each
student along with a Go-Getter button.
The object of this program is to recognize and encourage those students
who do not receive recognition by other means. These are the students
who really work hard and try to do their best, but may not be at the
top in scholastics or athletics. With all of the negative influence
facing our youth today, we feel it is even more important than ever
to focus on their positive attributes and hope that they will serve
as examples to others.
Each high school selects two students for recognition each month.
The student's picture and a brief descriptor, provided by the teacher,
are printed on the "Goal-Setter" page.
