The Benefits of becoming an NIE Teacher

The Sun's Newspaper in Education program is a community service offered to teachers of students in kindergarten through grade 12. NIE serves all county schools, private, parochial, charter and home-schooled teachers & students.

Services and materials available with Yuma Sun's NIE program include: (available per request)

Teacher workshops. Fast-paced, informative workshops. Teachers receive complimentary teaching materials. Teachers & students use the newspaper as a supplementary text in all areas of learning.

Consultation.Yuma Sun's NIE manager will meet with teachers and program directors to help develop newspaper-related teaching aids appropriate to their curriculum objectives.

Free or Reduced-price newspaper. Classroom sets of NIE papers are available to teachers free by sponsorship. Classroom sets can also be purchased at the rate of 15 cents per copy (minimum of 25 copies per week). Sponsors are always needed to provide NIE papers to classrooms.

Adopt-A-Class:
A classroom set of newspapers for the entire school year $175.00 paid by a partner/sponsor.
